The Ramapo Valley Surgical Center has state-of the art technology allowing our surgeons to perform minimally-invasive procedures.
General Surgery
Surgical specialists perform a wide range of procedures including laparoscopic gall bladder removal, hernia repair, breast biopsies and removal of various lesions. Our state of the art laparoscopic instruments and equipment facilitate minimally invasive procedures resulting in a shorter recovery period and comfortable discharge home.
Ear, Nose & Throat
Traditionally, tonsils and adenoids are removed by cutting or burning, which can cause extensive pain and damage to surrounding healthy tissue. At the Ramapo Valley Surgical Center, we offer Coblation, an advanced technology using radiofrequency energy. Because traditional procedures use high levels of heat to remove the tonsils and adenoids, damage to surrounding healthy tissue is common, resulting in a protracted period of recovery. Coblation does not remove the tonsils or adenoids by heating or burning, leaving the healthy tissue surrounding the tonsils unaffected. This results in significantly reduced postoperative pain and a quicker return to normal activity.
Ophthalmology
Our ophthalmic surgeons specialize in the latest surgical techniques. These include topical anesthesia, no-stitch cataract surgery, refractive and astigmatic procedures, laser, and the use of the latest, state of the art intraocular lens implants including wavefront and bifocal technology.
Orthopedics
The orthopedic surgeons at Ramapo Valley Surgical Center perform the majority of their surgeries using arthroscopic or minimally invasive techniques. They also utilize the latest technology for their procedures including radiofrequency ablation and absorbable fixation devices (used for tendon repairs and ligament reconstructions). There are significant advantages of absorbable screws and anchors over traditional metal implants. Absorbable devices dissolve with time, making them less likely to cause hardware-related pain and will not interfere with subsequent imaging studies such as MRI. This ultimately leads to decreased postoperative discomfort and a faster return to normal function.
Podiatry
PRVSC features a comprehensive podiatric surgical service. Our Podiatrists treat patients suffering from a wide range of foot ailments, including bunions, hammertoes, fractures, and plantar warts. Innovative, minimally invasive, procedures for the treatment of plantar fasciitis are being performed with great success.
Pain Management
Procedures to alleviate chronic and acute pain are performed routinely, using fluoroscopic guidance. Our Board Certified specialists treat patients with a wide range of procedures, including epidural and facet steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, and insertion of spinal cord nerve stimulators. Pain procedures are routinely offered with the added benefit of sedation, making the patients comfortable and relaxed during and after the procedure.
